Our Mission
To share the love of Jesus with the people of Springfield by providing opportunities to meet their spiritual and physical needs.

The Washington Street Mission has shared Jesus since 1910 to the people of Springfield in need. We're no longer on Washington Street, but now at 408 North Fourth Street.
As times changed, so have we. In the beginning we offered a place to sleep, food to eat and clothes to wear. Other Christian organizations are now providing sleeping accommodations and meals.
We offer school tutoring, religious instruction, Bible classes and social activities for needy children. We provided about 1500 hours serving young people last year.
On the adult side, at the Washington Street Mission, we provide coffee, donuts, fellowship and restroom facilities each weekday morning for those who otherwise live on the street. Last year we served over 16,600 cups filled with the love of Jesus.
For families and individuals we offer FREE clothing and household items donated to us by folks like you. In 2005 we shared over 100 thousand items of clothing . . and . . . It's not by accident that the word of God winds up in most of the pockets.
In 2002, the Lord led us to establish a TRANSITION HOUSE to provide temporary housing and support for homeless and recovering men. In a Christian environment we are able to help those who want to change their lifestyle . . . with an address, phone number, Christian counseling and help getting a job. Bible studies and church attendance are required.
In 2005 we supplied 1100 nights of shelter to help get these men started again toward a God- pleasing, productive life.
All of our work continues because of folks like you . . . who HELP US SERVE by . . . volunteering, praying and offering financial support.
Jesus came for OTHERS and with your continued support WE CAN . . . HELP, ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT OTHERS . . . real people in need of physical and spiritual help.
